Web Site Information and Overview

This page was created to provide an overview of the UF/IFAS Web initiative, Solutions for Your Life. For additional information, see our main Customer Service page.

If you have questions or feedback, please do not hesitate to contact the SFYL Web Team.

Purpose

The purpose of the Solutions for Your Life (SFYL) is to increase awareness of what UF/IFAS Extension is and to make it easier for members of the general public to find the information they need, in a language that they can understand. For more background information on SFYL, see our news release about the site's launch.

We hope to make SFYL a tool that you can use as you work with people one-on-one to provide resources and answer questions. The content in SFYL has been contributed by UF/IFAS Extension agents and IFAS faculty. Rather than hunting for bits and pieces from your computer, bookmarks, calendars, and notebooks, this site will be a repository for relevant, up-to-date information you can use to help your clients and visitors.

SFYL is not meant to replace county Extension Web sites. Because of its nature, SFYL casts a wider net for visitors and addresses general issues. For more specific information, visitors will be linked directly to county and department Web sites. In addition to being a resource you can use to answer questions, SFYL should have the added value of helping to improve search engine rankings by linking to your county Web sites and sending more visitors to your sites.

Coming Soon

In the future we hope to add more features. We hope to eventually add:

  • Up-to-date news information that shows up through RSS feeds
  • Calendars for each area that feed into one main calendar that can be sorted by event type, location, etc.
  • Message forums and FAQ areas where you can answer visitor questions and start compiling an FAQ knowledge base
  • Image database that provides images for you to use on your sites
  • A content management system that is Web-based, easy to use, and requires no software to help make site updates easier (a content management system allows authors to prepare and publish information online, without needing to learn or prepare HTML code)
